MiQ and Black Talent Initiative partner to launch internship program in Canada

Partnership is committed to empowering Black tech leaders of today and tomorrow

TORONTO – December 16, 2021 –  MiQ, a global programmatic media partner, today announces a partnership with Black Talent Initiative (BTI), a not-for-profit community focused on advancing Black talent in Canada.

Through this partnership, MiQ will be onboarding three new internship positions, featuring hands-on experience in Sales, Account Management, Trading and Operations. The 12-week program kicks off in May 2022, and offers paid internship opportunities for those interested in tech and are part of BTI’s diverse community of Black professionals.

This collaboration is committed to supporting equitable opportunities for career growth, and access to mentorship and networking for Black students and entry-level professionals who are experiencing systemic barriers and challenges when attempting to secure career development opportunities in the tech industry.

“We recognize that there is an acute underrepresentation of BIPOC employees across the tech industry,” said Alfie Atkinson, CEO, MiQ Canada. “By partnering with BTI, we believe we can work together to create opportunities and foster a culture where BIPOC talent can succeed and thrive.”

The Black Talent Initiative’s mission is to champion an equitable system for Black professionals in the business industry through resources, mentorship and opportunities.

“MiQ is one of the most innovative and fastest-growing companies in marketing globally, but they are more than just data scientists,” said Mark Harrison, Founder, Black Talent Initiative. “What attracted me to MiQ was that they have been very engaged with the human side of our industry. I know their pursuit of Inclusion and Diversity would not be a superficial journey. The Black Talent Initiative and MiQ are venturing to where our north stars align. Together, we are heading to a world where inclusion in the workplace is central to organizational culture.”

The internship program will set goals, development opportunities, and interactive initiatives, which will lead to a direct contribution to MiQ’s business goals.
